Noah Ready-Campbell, a former Google employee, will develop a self-driving excavator Built Robotics. Engineer has already raised $15 million for his project.

According to the developer, excavator the will be able to autonomously move and dig holes.

"We use the latest sensors from self-driving vehicles, modify them and install autonomous software, developed specifically for the requirements of construction work. Heavy building machinery is slow, so Built Robotics can easily replace it on the construction site because of its small size and autonomous control," Noah Ready-Campbell says.

Smart excavator is just one of many developments the company is going to produce, Ready-Campbell adds. The engineer assures autonomous equipment will play a key role in the construction sector in a few years.
