Russia unveils first driverless bus MatrЁshka
The MatrЁshka, first Russian driverless electric bus, will be soon out. Its maximum speed is limited to 30 km/h. MatrЁshka will be tested in Russian Skolkovo Innovation Centre next year.
Smart bus consists of replaceable modules, does not have a windshield; it is symmetrical and has a strip of parking lights around. Hence the name, the vehicle really looks like a matryoshka doll.
A smart buss has special sensors and navigation system on board, so it can easily navigate in the city without causing accidents.
Technical specifications of smart bus:
• maximum speed – 100km/h;
• average speed – 30 km/h ;
• the bus can run 130 km on a fully charged battery;
• it takes four hours to fully charge the battery;
• capacity – 8-12 people.
Volgabus and Bakulin Motors Group, the bus manufacturers, will start testing the M2V8 model in Skolkovo in 2018. It is a passenger carrying vehicle. The companies also plan to create a larger bus for 20 people, as well as vehicles for special transportation and freightage.
