Virtual Reality Now Available for Audi Consumers

Virtual Reality Now Available for Audi Consumers

Virtual reality technology is no longer limited to video games. It is gradually finding its use in different verticals. The International CES this year, which was held in Las Vegas, was proof of that. Car manufacturers are now turning towards this technology to provide their consumers with an additional experience. Audi recently launched a new virtual reality experience for their consumers, which is known as the Audi Virtual Reality Experience.

So, what will the drivers get from this Audi VR Experience? Let us have a look at this post to know more.

Audi Virtual Reality Experience

A headset and headphones are needed to simulate a showroom where consumers will be able to examine and configure their future vehicle. When the virtual reality headset is used, consumers will be able to see a whole range of Audi vehicles with intricate details along with all the possibilities that can be added, like infotainment options, colors, and more. After choosing a certain combination, the customers will be able to assess the car as if they were actually inside it. They can make more changes if they want and see the result on-screen instantly.

The head movements of the users are tracked by a camera, and the screen with the image is adjusted accordingly. The tracking movement and the large field of vision of the virtual reality glasses provide an immersive environment to the users and they feel as if they are sitting inside the car.

Other Specifications

The VR headset is complemented with headphones from Bang & Olufsen, which allows the wearer to hear the sounds like a car door being shut, conversation with a consultant and the Advanced Sound System of Audi A8.

With the help of a high-performance computer, the detailed records of the vehicle models are obtained and the images are reproduced onscreen at a high frequency.

Audi has termed this VR experience as “a supplement to the premium car buying experiment” and the company plans to launch the tool later in 2015. The feature might be eventually available as mobile application, which will make it possible for the consumers to see their dream model right from the comforts of the home.

What do you think?

Do you think the use of virtual reality technology will help Audi gain more consumers? Will other car manufacturers use this technology in the future? Share your views in the comments below.
