Connected Car Summit: connected car market trends in Russia

On November 21, during Connected Car Summit 2017, representatives of the Government of the Russian Federation, national car industry, telecom and IT companies, banks shared their achievements on the Russian market of connected cars, presenting their own projects and discussing the implementation of state policy in the automotive industry.

In 2017 Russian car market will grow by 10%, and car export – by 40%

The Ministry of Industry and Trade: Russian crossovers were added to the Moscow car sharing sector; the government announced benefits for leasing commercial and passenger cars, as well as support for automakers and IT companies.

“We expect that the Russian car market will grow by 10% this year. The production will grow even more – by over 20%. In 2017, the export of Russian cars will increase by more than 40%, and components – by 30%”, said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Alexander Morozov.

The objectives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the next year: “In 2018, there will be a strengthening of state support in the field of safe vehicles and the creation of the unmanned vehicles database”. Alexander Morozov believes that the future of the country's automotive industry is in safe electric transport.

Autonet 2.0: 100 ‘connected’ startups by 2019

Representatives of NP GLONASS held a round table and shared plans for the implementation of the project road map. The head of the Autonet working group Alexander Gurko together with the main researcher of NP GLONASS Tatyana Ledovskaya and lawyer Ekaterina Kochergina explained the development trends of the market.

The objective of NTI Autonet is to create an effective ecosystem for financial support of national companies, to form business markets and attract investments, to draft and update legislation.

The goal of the working group is to implement 100 industrial startups by 2019, to grow 30 medium-sized companies by 2025 and 5 national champions by 2035. The success will be achieved if 5 Russian top companies will be listed among Autonet top 50 brands in terms of sales of products and services.

JSC GLONASS and RAF: to make the car operating again in an hour

The Roadside Technical Assistance Service was presented by Sergey Oksenyuk and Dmitry Blekher. Now a low battery or a punctured wheel is not a problem anymore. According to the RAF statistics, if 3 cars broke down, 2 of them have a chance to be brought back to life in an hour: all is needed is to press the button so that dispatcher could use coordinates to called the tow truck.

The technical assistance and vehicle recovery service includes:

  • 130 offices in the 100 largest cities of Russia;
  • 800 tow trucks and 250 technical assistance vehicles;
  • 1500 employees across Russia trained by common standards of technical service;
  • 160 mechanical engineers.

The team implemented the project for one year. It already works for Hyundai Genesis.

Connected cars market development prospects were presented by Rostelecom, Sberbank, MTS, Yandex

Achievements in the development and implementation of solutions for the creation of the smart car industry in Russia were shared by leading companies.

“Connected cars are a part of the overall of the smart city concept, which includes homes, roads and transport. Consumers are used to treat a car as a mechanical mean of transportation, but now it is rather a set of services. The car is able to become a partner during the trip”, said Ivan Zapolskiy (Rightech) in an interview for Ridus.

LighTech product stopped the rails wear for six months

The winner of the Startup Battle in 2017 is the LighTech project and its “Ion Lubricating Composition RS”.

RS is a lubricant for metal, plastic and rubber. It protects mechanisms and equipment against wear: motors, bearings, knots.

Thanks to the RS lubricant, mechanisms live longer, wear less and save energy. Treating the rails with the lubricant, prevented wear for six months, and the locomotive wheels have no roughness.

The Startup Battle jury included investment funds, federal accelerators, business angels: GenerationS, Skolkovo, Starta Ventures; Business Angels of the Russian Federation. They help startups to identify weaknesses in their work, give advice on their elimination, finance projects ready for the market entry.
